William Hughes

FROSTBURG- William Joseph Hughes, 91, of Frostburg passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Bill was born in Midland on August 22, 1925 to the late John Hughes and Annie (McGowan) Hughes. He was preceded in death by brothers, Francis Hughes and John Hughes, and sister, Angela Eagan. Bill served his country during WWII in the U.S. Air Force. He was a private pilot for 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Marguerite (McGuire) Hughes, and his son Raymond Hughes and wife Kristina of Frostburg; and grandchildren, Annabeth Hughes, Carolyn Hughes, William Hughes, and Patrick Hughes. Also surviving is his sister Rita Leake of Florida. Family and friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9. Interment will be private at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Lung Association.
