FROSTBURG- Elmer Lee Loar, 81, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 12, 2019 at his home. Born March 20, 1938 in Eckhart, he was the son of the late Elmer Walter Loar and Mary Virginia (Scott) Loar. He was preceded in death by a brother Wayne Loar. Mr. Loar worked for the Kelly Springfield Tire Company for 27 years. He also drove for Bowman Trucking and he drove for the FSU Athletic Department. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Farrady Post 24. Mr. Loar was a member of Eckhart United Methodist Church, member of the Big Savage Sportsmen’s Club, and co-president of the September Singers senior vocal group. He is survived by his wife Carole Ann Loar; sons David Loar and wife Shari of Romney, WV; Chris Loar and wife Kim of Mooresville, NC; Lee Ann Jones and husband Martin of Grean Mills, MD; Tina Lee and husband Keith of Romney, WV; step-son Kurt Lemmert and friend Debbie of Frostburg; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother John Loar and wife Helen of Fort Ashby, WV; sisters Virginia Cecil of Georgia; and Judy Murray and husband Dale of Vale Summit. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Monday, July 15 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating. Inurnment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. American Legion Farrady Post 24 will accord military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eckhart United Methodist Church or CIRU at WMHS.
