Gerald Linn

April 23, 1933 — November 10, 2019

On Sunday, November 10, 2019, Gerald Morrison Linn, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather joined the ranks of those who have gone before us. Gerald was born in Frostburg, MD on April 23, 1933, the first of nine born to David Morrison and Margaret (House) Linn. He was a graduate of Beall High School in Frostburg, Maryland. Gerald joined the Marine Corps in 1950 and served 34 years. He married the love of his life, Dorothy (Nine) Linn and together they raised their five children. Gerald retired from the Marine Corps in 1984 as a Master Gunnery Sergeant and pursued a second career as a civil servant. Gerald and Dorothy celebrated their 67th anniversary this past September. Gerald was absolutely devoted to his wife Dorothy and their family. He enjoyed working in the yard and Home improvement. His greatest pleasure was time spent with family, to include his brothers, sisters & their families as well as his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gerald faithfully served Bayview United Church of Christ in several capacities such as Deacon, Trustee and Cook/organizer for Easter Breakfasts and Spaghetti Suppers. He co-founded and organized spaghetti suppers to benefit “ForKids” (formerly Haven House Emergency Shelter) for 30 years. Gerald was preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his brothers Jimmy and Morey. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, children; Gerald M. Linn, Jr. (Jodie), Patricia Paul (George), Karen Omtvedt (Steve), Vicki Eicher (David) and Kenneth Linn, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers; David Linn, Richard Linn, William Linn and three sisters, Rose McKenzie, Elsie Lewis, Margaret Ann Brenneman. A memorial service in honor of Gerald will be held at the Bayview United Church of Christ, 1031 Bayview Blvd. on Friday, November 22 at 1PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Gerald’s honor to the Bayview United Church of Christ. A reception will follow the service in the social hall. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the friends and professional care givers that provided care and comfort to Gerald throughout his illness.
