Joseph Don Yommer, 89 of Olney, MD went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 27, 2019. Born May 15, 1930 in Jennings, MD he was the son of the late, Bruce and Jessie (Warnick) Yommer. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years Alice Ida (Hagar) Yommer, four sisters, Mary Helen (Yommer) Stephanie, Wanda Catherine (Yommer) Gross, and Wilda a twin sister to Wanda, Norma Ruth (Yommer) Quail. Eleven brothers, Oney, David, Osborne, Jim, Harry, Jack, Homer, Hubert, Richard and an infant brother Ross. All served in the military except for Wanda who worked for the Red Cross during WWII. Mr. Yommer was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church in Silver Spring MD for 63 years. He was on the deacon board for many years and also a Sunday School teacher, and started the Royal Ranger Program. Joe was retired from the General Service Administration and served in the United States Air Force from 1951 and retired in 1990 as a Master Sergeant; he graduated from Grantsville High School in 1948. He loved the outdoors. Joe liked hunting and gardening. Surviving is one brother Willard Yommer, Ohio. Three daughters, Debra Kay (Yommer) Eader, husband Morris of Toano, VA; Karen Elizabeth (Yommer) Skidmore,husband James of Westminster, MD and Linda Marie Yommer of Olney, MD; six grandchildren Anita (Eader) Rastani, husband Alessio of London England; Joseph Eader, wife Monica of Toano, VA; Nathan Skidmore, wife Claudine of Westminster, MD; Elizabeth Skidmore of Westminster, MD; Justin Eader of Columbia, MD and Natalie Skidmore of Westminster, MD. Twelve great grandchildren Avenleigh, Lynne, Amelia, Joseph, Jedediah, Trinity, Jackson, Lily, Tabitha, Marshall, Hannah and Isaiah. Joe was a wonderful husband, father and grandpap. He loved God and his family and wants to see all of them in Heaven. Family and friends will be received at Sower Funeral Home 60 W. Main St., Frostburg MD, on Monday, July 1, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. On Tuesday, July 2, funeral services will be held at the Sowers Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Tucker officiating at 11 a.m. interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park with military honors. Pallbearers will be Mike Blank, Justin Eader, Darrell Lyons, Robert Penrod, Alessio Rastani, Nathan Skidmore, Tucker Skidmore.
