Anthony E. Layman, 87 of Finzel, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 13, 2023 at his farm.
Born September 21, 1936, to the late Blaine Layman and Mary (McKenzie) Layman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and Bernard and his sisters Angela Llewellyn and Ginny DeWitt, and a son-in-law Kevin Lamberth.
He was a graduate of Northern High School in 1954. After graduation he joined the Army and was stationed in Spokane, WA. He married the love of his life, Alma Timney of Lonaconing in 1958. They had 65 years together. He was a member of St. Michael’s Church in Frostburg. Anthony worked at Westvaco in Luke for 40 years until his retirement and then built a home on the family’s farm. He loved working in his garden, helping those in need, and “tinkering” with a project.
Over the years he loved visiting with his children and attending graduation and weddings of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Alma Lee his two sons Steve (Vivian) of Colorado Springs, CO; and Charles (Michele) of Elizabeth, CO; and two daughters, Kathy Lamberth of Little River, SC; and Patty (Jim)Musgrove Franklin, WV. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Anthony will be cremated, and a celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later time.
