FROSTBURG- Barbara Ann Rafferty, 73, of Frostburg, went home February 21, 2021, to her Lord and Savior. Born July 22, 1947 she was the daughter of the late Emma Jean (Plummer) Hanlin and James Samuel Hanlin. She was preceded in death by her sister Bonnie Jean Martin, and her brothers Tom and Skip Hanlin and a nephew Bobby Martin.
Barbara had a warm and compassionate heart that was evident in the career she had in helping others working for the Frostburg Village Nursing Home and then the Massie Unit for the Allegany County Health Dept. as an addiction’s counselor. But nothing showed her love for others and the Lord Jesus Christ than how she dedicated her time in retirement to serving at her church, The Potter’s Place. She would spend countless hours helping with any project needed until poor health made it no longer possible. Even in her struggles, Barbara sought to encourage as many people as she could and bring glory to the Lord Jesus by writing letters or sending cards with scriptures and personal messages and faithfully praying for those on her list.
Barbara was committed to her family who wait the day til they see her again. William L. Rafferty (husband) sons, Ken Rafferty (Suzanne) and Jim Rafferty. The absolute lights of her life, grandchildren Rusty Rafferty, Sarah Rafferty and Elijah Rafferty. Also, Joe Martin, nephew.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Ken Rafferty and Rev. Rick Riley officiating. Final resting place will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the Egle Nursing and Rehab and the UPMC for their compassionate care and everyone for all the cards that were sent to Barbara.
