Ellen Oneil Whetstone

Ellen Oneil (Kenney) Whetstone, 88, of Frostburg passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026 at UPMC Western Maryland.

Ellen was born on November 26, 1937 in Vale Summit and was the daughter of the late Leo (Doc) and Edna (Loar) Kenney. She was also preceded in death by her husband Gene E. Whetstone, three brothers, Leo, Joe, and William (Foncie) Kenney, and sister Coleen Kenney.

Ellen was born and raised in the Catholic faith. She retired after 22 years from the Frostburg Village Nursing Home and Heights Apartments.

She is survived by son, Doug Whetstone (Diane), Vale Summit; daughter, Jeannie Morris (Butch), LaVale; grandson, Michael Hatter, LaVale; sisters Ann Mills (Bren), Sarah Cesnick (Gene), and Edna Fair (Dick) all of Midland; brothers, Mike Kenney (Margie), Frostburg; Ed (Doc) Kenney (Kay), Midland; and Paul (Doc) Kenney (Linda) , Klondike.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
