With great sorrow our family announces the passing of our caring and loving Dad, and Pappy, Elmer James Wright. Jim , 82, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2025, in Pennsylvania where he resided with his daughter Huron and son in law Jason.
Jim was born on May 5, 1943, to Erma Elizabeth and Elmer Eugene Wright, Frostburg. Jim graduated from Beall High School, Frostburg in 1961. After graduation Jim proudly served in the United States Navy. After his service in the Navy, he went on to work at Prudential Life Insurance and The Kelly Springfield Company. He then spent the rest of his life continuing to care for and help raise 4 children, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.Jim always enjoyed camping at Little Brown Lake, raising kids and grandkids on the family farm, telling amazing stories, attending all of his “kids” functions, and cooking huge family meals with his honey, Barbara.
In celebrating of his life, we honor a remarkable man who wore many hats: an incredible father, a loving grandfather, and a devoted husband. His presence was a guiding light, illuminating our lives with love and laughter. Dad, Pap had a unique ability to make everyone feel special offering support and encouragement at every turn. His stories of adventure and life lessons will echo in our hearts forever. Though he is no longer with us in body, we find solace in knowing he is reunited with Mom, sharing stories and laughter once more.
Jim is survived by his 4 children: Roxy Berndes (Rick), Jamie Wright (Rita), Shannon Miller (Jim), Huey Campbell (Jason). Jim was also a loving Pappy to 5 grandchildren: TJ McMahon (Kristen), Marcus Wright (Shirlyn), Jared Wright (Sarah), Shea Center (Brad), and Paige Porter (Peyton). And four great grandchildren: Zack and Hunter McMahon and Jordynn and Tori Wright. He is also survived by his sisters Debbie Winters (George) and Karen Palasisco, brothers Tim Wright( Polly) and Steve Wright, nephews Howard, Georgie (Beth), David, and Tony, nieces Breanna, Christina, great nephews Colin, Andrew, Chaise, and Gage.
Visitation for Jim will be at Sowers Funeral Home on Saturday, September 27, 10:00- 1:30. Private family burial services will be held at a later date with Wayne Porter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please gather with family to laugh, celebrate and create memories with each other. Dad, Pap would have wanted it that way!
