Elsie Mae Robinette Morgan, 100, of Frostburg, passed on July 19, 2024 at home of 73 years.
Born May 22, 1924 in Flintstone, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Clara (Stierstorfer) Robinette. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years James A Morgan, Jr. who passed in 2007; brothers, Harry, Robert, Thornton, and Ted, sisters, Catherine and Eleanor Robinette, Agnes Wigfield, Gladys DeVito.
Elsie was the last surviving member of Flintstone High School Class of 1942 and attended Catherman’s Business School. She was a full-time mother, homemaker and dedicated to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. Elsie was a member of First United Methodist Church of Frostburg and belonged to: Frostburg Homemakers, Rip and Tear Club, Ali Ghan Shrine woman’s group and Cedarettes. Elsie spent a lot of her time working with young people as assistant leader of the Frostburg Sr Girls 4-H club as well as teaching crafts for many summers at Girls 4-H Camp in Garrett County. She shared her talents and taught many people to knit and sew. Later in life she was a member of the Frostburg UMC Quilting Group where she sewed quilt tops and helped with the construction of prayer quilts.
Surviving Elsie is daughter Kay Frances Morgan Fisher, husband Robert of Inverness, FL; son James A Morgan III, wife Robin of Aiken, SC; seven grandchildren Timothy Fisher (Lindsey) of MI, Wendy (Fisher) Heinemann (Baron) of TX, Stacey Fisher of FL, Christopher Morgan (Amanda) of TX and Justin Morgan of SC, Lars Beckner of SC and Lucas Beckner (Kelsey) of SC; great-grandchildren Laydn and Asher Heinemann, Robert, James and Morgan Fisher, Meredith, Natalie and Henry Morgan and Atlas Beckner. Sister Betty McLaughlin and sister-in-law Judy Robinette both of Cumberland and plus 9 nieces and 12 nephews and their families. A special thank you to nieces and nephew Eileen Bennett, Helen Mueller and Jim and Yvonne Shumaker and close friends Carol Cleveland and Connie Yates.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, 60 West Main St, Frostburg on Thursday, July 25 from 6 to 8pm.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, July 26 at 11am officiating will be Elsie’s granddaughter, The Rev. Wendy Heinemann.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Fisher, Baron Heinemann, Christopher Morgan, Lars Beckner, Justin Morgan, Lucas Beckner and Lydan and Asher Heinemann
Interment will be at Frostburg Memorial Park immediately following the service.
