Gary F. Llewellyn, 75, of LaVale, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2023 at UPMC Western Maryland surrounded by his wife and two daughters.
Born in Miner’s Hospital, Frostburg on November 12, 1947, he was the son of the late Francis C. Llewellyn and Catherine (Likens) Llewellyn of Moscow Mills (Barton).
Gary was a 1965 graduate of Valley High School. He joined the U.S.A.R. military police while in high school. After graduation, he went to Fort Knox, Kentucky for his training. During his 22 years in the service, he was activated to Desert Shield, Desert Storm. He also spent time in Egypt and Germany. He retired as Sgt. 1st Class. He also retired from the Frostburg Police Department in 2007 after 33 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Rose Mary (McGuire) Llewellyn, two daughters, Roberta Weaver (Ernie) and Catherine Yutzy (Phil), three granddaughters, Dannielle Railey, Savannah and La Rae Yutzy, and one brother Edgar (Debra) and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
He was an organ donor and in accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated with his remains at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with a funeral service following at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Kristin Beeman officiating.
Farrady Post 24 and the Frostburg Police will accord military honors at the funeral home.
