FROSTBURG- Gerald Walter “Jerry” Wagner, 85, of Zihlman died on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Frostburg Village Nursing and Rehab Center. Born in New Salem, PA on July 4, 1931 he was the son of the late Joseph Aloysius Wagner and Mary Helen (Zuzak) Wagner. Jerry served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and he was a proud Veteran. He retired from Western Union where he worked as a plant technician. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and wood carving. He was a devoted family man. He is survived by his cherished wife of 60 years, Marie (Brehun) Wagner, his loving daughters, Susan Sosnowik of Lawrence, NY; Patricia Wagner of Bethesda, MD; Carol Wagner of Staunton, VA; and Laura Vickery of California, MD. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and his brother Joseph Wagner, Jr. of Greensburg, PA. Family and friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral services following at 1 p.m. with Father Ed Hendricks officiating. Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap. American Legion Farrady Post 24 will accord military honors at the cemetery.
