FROSTBURG- Harold F. Anderson, 95, of Frostburg, died Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born February 3, 1927 in Lonaconing, MD, he was the son of the late James H. and Atlantic “Lannie” Click Anderson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl F. Anderson and John “Jack” Anderson and one sister, Vernell Gowans.

Surviving is his wife Erma M. (Clise) Anderson and two daughters Brenda Mulligan and husband Michael of Cumberland, and Kimberly Sturtz of Grantsville.  Five grandchildren, Ashley Uphold, Chelseyanne Piper, Destaney Moyer, Alexander Mulligan, and Ryan Mulligan. Eight great-grandchildren, Charlotte Piper, Ewoyn Piper, Logan Uphold, Elisabeth Uphold, Marie Uphold, Diana Uphold, Jace Uphold, and Anakin Moyer. Several very special nieces Terry Johnson, Sarah Daniels, and Rhonda Ternent.

Mr. Anderson was a retired employee of the Celanese Corporation as senior manufacturing specialist with 40 years of service having served with assignments in Europe, Canada, Mexico, South America, Rock Hill, NC, Harrisburg, PA, Edmonton, Canada, Montreal, Mexico City, Mexico, Guadalajara, Ocaalon, Bogota, Columbia SA, Medellin, Caracas, Venezuela SA, Lima, Peru. Geneva Switzerland, Lanakewn, Belgium, Brussels.

He was a 1944 graduate of Central High School in Lonaconing, MD, Basic Engineering School Gulf Port, Mississippi.  Also, a Graduate of the International Correspondence School in Textiles and a Graduate of basic science at Fort Hill High School, Cumberland, and Graduate of Dale Carnegie Institute in report writing, Pittsburgh, PA. While attending High School he worked at a feed mill, gas station, and as an ice man.

He was a Navy Veteran of World War II serving on three Destroyer Escorts in the Atlantic Theater. He was issued a commendation for outstanding work in decommission of all 3 ships.

He is a member of the Frostburg United Methodist Church serving on most all committees including Chairman of the Administrative Board. He was a past  president and a 29-year member of the Rotary Club of Frostburg, member of the Mountain Lodge # 99 A.F. & A. M., 32nd degree Scottish Rite, Ali Ghan Shrine, Frostburg Post #24 American Legion, Potomac Valley Destroyer Escort Association Cumberland, MD and also the National Destroyer Escort Sailors Association, Vienna VA, Veterans of Foreign Wars-Post 6025 Mount Savage, MD, and Frostburg Museum Association. Also, a member of Frostburg Council of the Alleganies, Frostburg Save the Palace Association, Activities for life at Frostburg State University, Central High School and Alumni and A.A.R.P. Also, Board of the Frostburg Memorial Park Cemetery Association.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.

 Mountain Lodge # 99 A.F. & A. M. will hold a service at 12:30.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park where American Legion Post 24 will accord military honors.
