OLDTOWN- Layton L. Stott, Sr., 80, of Oldtown, passed away on Saturday October 13, 2018 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Born August 8, 1938 in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Layton H. Stott and Lillian N. (Drew) Stott. Layton was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in 1960. He worked at Cumberland Steel and sold Real Estate. He retired as a welder for the Boiler Makers Local 154 in Pittsburgh, Pa. Layton enjoyed 18 years of retirement. He always loved the sport of hunting but, his first love was training hunting dogs and coon hunting. Layton was always known as a character unique in his own way. He loved his family and cherished his friends. He always spoke his mind and was a straight shooter. He is survived by his wife Mary A. (Bittner) Stott, his children, Layton Stott, Jr. and wife Miriam, Cheryl Humbertson and husband Willard, Russell Stott and wife Diana, Melissa Stott, Wade Stott, and wife Shannon, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are brothers Gary Stott and wife Wendy, and Wayne Stott and wife Judy. Family and friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted after the visitation at 8 p.m. with Pastor Doug Seaman and Pastor Paul Demers.
