Melvin Eugene Filer, 77, of Frostburg, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at his home.
He was born April 15, 1939, in Midlothian, to the late Benjamin and Hannah Filer.
He is survived by his children, Hannah Margaret Blackmon of Fayetteville, N.C., and Benjamin Melvin Filer of Baltimore; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; five siblings, George Filer, Lois Lewis, Charles Filer, Rosalie Doty, and Betty Knott; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Melvin was a veteran and loved by everyone.
A memorial service will be held with full military honors at Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, at a later date.
