Robert "Bob" Gene Passarell (Paz), 72, passed away in the late evening of Tuesday, October 3, 2023, surrounded by his family at home.
Born in Frostburg on September 15, 1951, he was the son of the late Michael W. and Genevieve Marie Passarell. He was preceded in death by brothers Michael, Stephen, and Charles Passarell.
Bob was a retired railroader of nearly 30 years. He was a member of Divine Mercy parish at St. Michael's Church. He loved spending time outside, whether he was hunting, fishing, or simply surrounded by nature. He valued spending time with his children, grandchildren, friends, and Oscar the Wiener Dog. He was a devoted fan of Notre Dame and Baltimore Ravens Football. Bob was a long-time member of the National Association of Retired & Veteran Railroad Employees Cumberland Unit 103 before becoming president of Unit 173, Altoona NARVRE. Bob never met a stranger and was loved by many. He was a proprietor of Passarell's Deli in Cumberland with his wife, Debbie, where they prided themselves on providing friendly service to their community. He was also renowned for his pool hustling skills, deep supply of clever punchlines, and unmatched wit. Bob was as ornery as they come, with a unique ability to make anyone smile. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Passarell; sons, Robert "Alex" Passarell (Katrina), Daniel Passarell (Brittney); daughter, Natalie Ellison (Joe); step-children, Keith Murphy (Michelle), Michael Murphy (Conor); grandchildren, Brendan (Kassidy) and Brianna Passarell, Jason and Lily Ellison, Vincent Passarell, Lexi, Aidan, and Finn Murphy, Randy and Aysen Soriano, and great-granddaughter Adeline Henry.
