Virginia (Ginger) Sween

 Virginia (Ginger) Sween of Eckhart, Maryland, passed away on October 28, 2023, at West Virginia University Medical Center, Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 7, 1943, in Eckhart, Maryland, and grew up there along with her 6 siblings. She is survived by her beloved husband, Gary Earl Sween, with whom she was happily married for 54 years, by her son Gary II and his wife Jennifer, and by her granddaughters, Haley and Hannah, whom she adored, and they adored her.She is also survived by her brother, Charles (Sandy), many nieces and nephews, and her very special friends, Janette and Brian Knieriem and Grace Plummer.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diana, and mother Margaret and father Robert Ryan.  Also preceding her were brothers Bill and Richard, and sisters Mildred, Molly, and Phyllis.

Ginger was known for always being willing to lend a helping hand to her family, friends, and neighbors, and for her excellent cooking.  She will be missed very much by them.   She always enjoyed her flowers. She loved making cookies and candies and sharing them with friends and family.  She lived her life in a simple way and was fully satisfied being at home with her husband.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, 60 West Main Street, Frostburg, on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 11 to 1 p.m.  A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Reverend Matthew Eichhorn officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Eckhart Baptist Church, 17104 Old National Pike, SW, Frostburg, Maryland 21532, and Allegany United Methodist Church, 79 Meadow Road, Frostburg, Maryland 21532, c/o Eugene Blank.

Interment will be in Eckhart Cemetery.
