Alleene Plummer

FROSTBURG- Alleene (Oss) Plummer, 100, of Frostburg went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born June 4, 1918 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Russell Lewis Oss and Eva Nora (Robinette) Oss Carroll. She is preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Plummer, granddaughter, Wendy Mayfield, son in law, Dennis Line, and a sister, Edna Morrisey. Mrs. Plummer was a hard worker. At a young age, she cleaned houses and worked as a waitress and at Brown’s Store. Later, she worked at the Celanese where she met the love of her life Francis, who she was married to for 52 years until he passed. During the war, she worked in the Ammunition Ordinance Plant. She worked at the Kelly Springfield and Montgomery Wards until she left to raise her family. She was a member of the Frostburg United Methodist Church for 75 years. Mrs. Plummer was very strong in her faith and she was always very supportive of her family. She was a volunteer for the church newsletter and also the newsletter for Frostburg State University. She volunteered in a sewing group that made cancer pads. She is survived by daughters, Deborah Line of Spencer, Indiana; Billie Jean Miller of Frostburg; and Nancy Jo Rotruck of LaVale; nine grandchildren, Dennis, Darrin, Nathaniel, Allison and husband Franklin, Melanie, Amanda, Daniel, and Kendall. Also, surviving are 15 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gary Barkley officiating. Pallbearers will be Dennis Line, Darrin Line, Nathaniel Rotruck, Franklin Broadwater, Brayden Broadwater, and Skyler Loy. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
