Edgar W. (Duke) Cutter

April 23, 1945 ~ February 5, 2021 (age 75)


MIDLOTHIAN- Edgar (Duke) W. Cutter, 75, of Midlothian, died Friday, February 5, 2021 at UPMC Western Maryland with his wife and children at his side. Duke was born April 23, 1945 in Frostburg. He was the son of the late William and Gertrude Cutter. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Hazel Cutter, infant, Mabel Kennell, brothers, Joe Cutter and Roger Cutter, grandson, Quade Livengood, infant, brother-in-law, Raymond Kennell.

Duke was a retired heavy equipment operator for several strip mining companies. He got his start at Win-More Mining. His uncles, Matt Skidmore and Herman Winters, taught him on the equipment from a young boy and he fell in love with running the heavy equipment. A few places he worked for were TG & C Coal Co., Hi-Note Coal Co., and Barton Mining. Duke was a very hard worker and loved his job, he often said if he felt good enough, he would love to go back and work a couple days a week. Dedicated to his job, he was!

Surviving are his wife, Diana Cutter, sons, Richard Cutter and wife Elaine of Cumberland, Chad Cutter and wife Lorie of Midlothian; one daughter, Melissa Richards of Grantsville; brothers, Blaine Cutter and William Cutter; grandsons, Jordan Cutter, Richard Cutter, Jr. and Chris Cutter; one granddaughter, Nina Cutter; one great-grandson, Felix Harris and numerous nieces and nephews, Also, sister-in-law, Deanie Cutter.

Special thanks to the nurses on the 5th floor at UPMC for their care of Duke, and to Sowers Funeral Home for their kindness and help.

Duke donated his body to science and there will be a graveside service at a later date.
