We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Sowers Funeral Home
On Wednesday December 15th Shirley Irene Rafferty passed away at her daughter’s home in Brandon, Mississippi. Shirley was the loving wife (of late Gerald), mother, mom-mom and was dedicated to the happiness of her family and friends. She resided with her daughter after Pete passed away in 2012. Born January 8, 1939, she is survived by her daughter, Patricia Lane; her former son-in-law, David Lane; granddaughter Katherine Shealey and Angel Donaldson and late grandson David Lane Jr. She also survived by her sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley loved her small knit community of Eckhart. She moved with her daughter after Pete passed to the big city of Brandon, Mississippi. She loved to talk about the old days and telling her granddaughter and daughter that they couldn’t cook pork chops right. She was full of energy and never seemed to complain about things. She loved doing yard work, taking care of the dogs as well. Full of life till the very end. Shirley will be deeply missed by many. Please keep watching over us as we navigate this world without you.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Tuesday Jan, 4, 2022 from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022 at St. Michael Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with Father Ed Hendricks as celebrant.
Shirley will be laid to rest with Pete at the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone.
